In 1988 Sherry's studies of Asian and Egyptian cultures and the Bible coupled with the impressions and experiences gained from her travels to Europe, inspired the first in an extensive group of paintings. "The spirit of man", an ongoing series that includes over 130 works.

While each piece is different the series is unified by the the theme of man; represented by art deco-style borders. The spirit, shown through more abstract patterns, reflect the conflict and commonalities between the two. Ms. Young's adroit mixing, of hues and tints of blues and lavenders with simular colors, and strategic juxtaposing of color depicts her knowledge of the nerurophysiological affects of color on the human phyche. Colors that have an affect on man's emotions, senses, and pleasures are considered covenet colors. Other works of Ms. Young's are in watercolor and employ more traditional floral motifs; which include colleges.

Sherry's, 15 year, research is on the neurophysiological aspects of color. How color affects thought, mood and behavior. The color matrix is based on Nobel Prize Winning physicist and scientist experiments in color. It includes the studies of Sir Isaac Newton and Albert Einstein. Sherry conducts workshops on color and has forthcoming books which reflect her experiments on the subject. Sherry also creates a "stylized homeostasis" for her clients.
