American Artist on the cutting edge of change; to improve Detroit

from working to technology age; helping to rebuild Michigan

As schools seek to lessen the value of Art and Culture; international artist Sherry Young conducts workshops on the importance of the subliminal affects of color on the thoughts, mood, and behavior using the color matrix by Nobel Prize- winning physicist and scientist including Albert Einstein and Sir Issac Newton.

This ancient highly specialized field was revitalized by Sir Issac Newton during the Renaissance Period. Sherry says " Their were many artist during the 1800's in Paris, France, that were inspired by the scientist conducting studies in color and light.

Sherry came upon these interesting studies at the main branch of the Detroit Public Library while majoring in psychology at Wayne State University and later studying sculpture at the Center for Creative Studies. Since then, for over 15 years, she has continued researching and exhibiting throughout the world on the science of color.

Sherry was invited by His Excellency Sir Banja-Tejan-Sie G.C.M.G to exhibit for the Queen of England. 14 of Sherry's works sold in London, England in the mid 90's.

"My work is more of a deliberate juxtaposing of color.

To invoke certain emotions and reactions at an

unconscious subliminal level; where kinetic energy moves

through the atoms of transverse wavelengths."

Sherry's work was inspired by, many cultures and artist, including Egyptian, Oriental and German cultures. One colorfield artist Sherry states " Kenneth Noland's blue monotone colorfield painting was intriguing to me. The wide use of blue involved one's emotion to the core." One art critic, Jane Harrison Cone, stated in Artform, Nov. 1967. That she "felt the force of color... one has to strain and focus... extremely hard, even painful... the razor thin color of violet keeps overlapping and snapping."

Sherry says, "Just as recently as 2007, I spoke with an executive at the Detroit Medical Center whom told me that her assistant had just painted her office blue and began complaining of pain".

Sherry further says " This reaction is typical of the color blue, which moves at a wavelength that is qualitatively slower than that of red, orange and yellow and green; thus, subsequently slowing down the metabolism too much. Which can cause hypertension, as the body has to overcompensate, or speed up to, to bring the organs back to a state of normal to stabilize the metabolism.

"Blue also disturbs the focus of the eye, as well as stints the growth and development of plants, small animals and humans". You can learn more from Sherry manual "Quick Guide To Understanding Color".

Color can also cause of lift many issues such as, depression, violent and aggressive behavior, stress, hyperactivity, and growth and development.

Sherry is working on several projects in the Michigan area; including a hands-on workshop for Wayne County Community College, so individuals can understand what colors work best for their issue. Paint the town non-violent, using colors to calm violent and aggressive behavior, utilizing outside murals throughout the neighborhoods with colors that also lift depression and cause a cheerful and pleasant disposition. Scientist have used these colors in experiments that prove that they work. The "Calling All Cars" project involves female models classic cars and body painters. Edited by Paul Lee
